The webcam at Sherril is directed at the Dartmoor landscape and sky for weather observation purposes. It is not intended to capture identifiable individuals, faces, or license plates. Webcam images are processed by Google's Gemini API to automatically detect weather conditions (e.g., "Fog", "Rainbow"). This processing identifies meteorological features and does not attempt to identify individuals. The resulting tags are stored in our database to organise the snapshot archive.
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare R2 object storage, and delivered via the Cloudflare CDN. These services may collect standard server logs (such as your IP address and browser type) for security and performance monitoring.
To provide a fast, app-like experience and enable offline access, this website uses a Service Worker to cache core application files (such as pages and images) on your device. We also use your browser's Local Storage to save your preferences (such as your Light/Dark mode theme choice and a record of tags you have voted on to prevent duplicate voting).
